I'm Ben, and I've just finished (pending corrections) my Ph.D. thesis in Chris Foot's research group at the University of Oxford. My thesis was on dynamic optical potentials for ultracold atoms. It was fun - I got to play with lasers! - but it was more than enough to convince me I didn't want to pursue a career in physics. Instead, after a brief stint working with the National Foundation for Educational Research I've started on a graduate scheme based in London.
In August 2008 I got married to the very lovely shreena!
Other than physics, I enjoy SCUBA diving, quizzes and quizzing, fencing and other martial arts, travel, explosions, lasers, flying and Jack Daniels. In my spare time I also do some teaching work with the Open University.
